Even a Tesla Cannot Crush Nitecore EC4, the First Die-cast Unibody Flashlight

It has been quite a while since there was a real breakthrough in the making of a flashlight. But things have changed since the debut of Nitecore’s EC4. As the world’s first die-cast unibody flashlight, it is made by similar technology to create parts of Tesla car.

Our geeky design team arranged a 10-ton level pressure lab-test (not those cliché tests of torch solidity by having a truck run over the product) and found out that even the total weight of a Tesla Roadster cannot crack an EC4. It is literally “indestructible”. Test results showed that this novel model has 200% the strength of an ordinary flashlight that consists of 3 separate parts.

Die casting is for the first time brought into the industry. It is a casting method by injecting molten aluminum under high pressure into mold cavity, which involves no separate parts welded or fastened together. The technology has been used in luxury cars, aerospace industries mostly, to reduce weight & size while increase toughness. Different from the traditional way cutting by CNC router, die casting enable flashlight has a non-cylindrical shape while avoiding excessive cutting waste by CNC.

That means the EC4 has the highest level of structural integrity that offers many benefits. To name just a few, it eliminates redundant elements like battery compartment and fasteners between the head and the body. This makes the light so much smaller and lighter.

The best benefit is that it gives the EC4 a perfect heat sink. A seamless structure means that heat generated by the working LED is delivered evenly and rapidly to the overall surface. For outdoor and search/rescue use, the cooling performance is a crucial factor for what you feel in hand. The cooling fins engineered in a vertical direction ensure the EC4 has a larger cooling exterior. Such novel and ingenious design enable using this light in high output for long hours without burning hands.

Utilizing a CREE-XM-L2 LED and 2x18650 batteries, the EC4 throws 1000lm beams for 322 meters. Some might see that as modest compared to other bold innovations made by Nitecore. But let’s not forget that EC4’s advanced cooling performance allows for lasting high lumen output. The 1000lm longtime illumination already makes it a winner.

The EC4 could be a small step to make a new name for flashlight making. We will create impressive stuff and amaze you again soon in the future.
